Global Integrity has begun new work in Guatemala supporting the Guatemalan Vice President’s efforts to promote transparency and accountability reforms. This is a first for us (working directly with a government) and so we thought it important to be as fully transparent as possible about our engagement in the country.
You can follow the ongoing discussions, debates, and ideas for how to best move the needle on transparency reforms in Guatemala by keeping an eye on this wiki site, where we’ll be posting any and all documentation about our work in the country. Currently posted are our MOU with the government and my trip report from a short (but productive) two-day visit in late-March to Guatemala City.
Also, we’ve suspended traditional Global Integrity assessment work in the country during the period of our engagement with the government, to avoid any real or perceived conflicts of interest.
Have thoughts on how we can help? We welcome your comments and ideas.
