We’re pleased to announce the short list for the Global Integrity Report: 2008, including 16 countries never previously assessed by Global Integrity.
The countries comprising the Global Integrity Report: 2008 will be drawn from this list, with fieldwork beginning this month. This list was compiled after careful thought and debate in the Global Integrity office as well as expressions of interest from field teams. We look for quality research teams as a first prerequisite, then consider geographic diversity, and economic diversity in order to distribute our limited resources where they can have the most impact.
Do you have thoughts on this list? We’d like to hear from you in the comments section below this post.

@ Sherif:
We’ll keep an eye on Egyptian anti-corruption policy and practices in the 2008 Global Integrity Report update. The best thing you can do is hook up with a local advocacy group – like Transparency International’s local chapter. Then use our data to identify specific policies that you want to change and chip away at the problems piece by piece.
Hey guys, I’m from Egypt, and I want to draw your attention to the huge focus and media attention in Egypt this year on fighting corruption.
Is there anything you and I can do together to help these efforts to really lower the corruption rates ?
Indeed, in 2007 we made an effort to cover the G8 nations. This year we’ve included fewer Western countries, but a good number of emerging markets.
Please disregard my last comment or remove it. I found exactly what I was looking for in the 2007 report. Great site by the way.
I just found this site while doig some research for a class paper. One thing I would like to see is more compairison of western countries. From looking at the 2006 list I saw that you did the US, but not Canada, the UK, France, Austrailia or Germany. It would be interesting to see how we stacked to the rest of the western world. I understand though that with your limited resources you need to focus on the real trouble spots first.
